OCC Names Barbara C. Healey New Deputy Comptroller for Central District

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency today announced the appointment of Barbara C. Healey as Deputy Comptroller for the OCC's Central District, effective June 1, 1996. The Central District supervises national banks in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Since January 1993, Ms. Healey has been District Administrator of the OCC's Midwestern District, where she supervised the units responsible for licensing and administrative activities as well as field examiners responsible for regional and community bank supervision in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. Prior to becoming District Administrator, she was the OCC's Assistant Chief National Bank Examiner for Capital Markets, based in the agency's headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Healey began her career with the OCC in 1969 and became a national bank examiner in 1973. During her 27-year career with the OCC, she also has been director of human resources (1989-1991); director of operations analysis (1986-1989); and director of the Richmond, VA field office (1983-1985).

Ms. Healey holds a B.A. in Economics from Douglass College in New Brunswick, New Jersey, an M.B.A. from Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey and an M.P.A. from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
